The objective of this American Ground Water Trust Conference is to discuss groundwater issues specific to the Northwest region (ID, OR and WA) and to facilitate information sharing among landowners, groundwater end-users, regulators, management agencies, scientists, engineers, lawyers and citizens who have economic or environmental interests in water resources.

Join us for a tour to learn about the unique hydrogeology of the West Plains and the Spokane Valley Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer, one of the most productive sole-source aquifers! This tour will visit the scenic Palisades Park to discuss the West Plains Hydrogeography and PFAS monitoring efforts with Dr. Chad Pritchard with EWU’s Dept of Geosciences; the Spokane County Water Resource Center, a regionally-recognized water education center where you can interact with exhibits that make learning about groundwater fun for all ages while learning about the County’s aquifer monitoring and education efforts with Amy Sumner with Spokane County Water Resources; and the City of Spokane’s Well Electric well station and the adjoining Upriver Dam and Powerhouse, where participants will be able to see the dam’s original turbines, two currently-operating large-diameter caisson wells, and the historic 1907 caisson well while hearing about the City’s current planning efforts to ensure that the Well Electric well station remains a viable long-term source of groundwater supply from John Porcello with GSI Water Solutions. We will finish the tour with a tour, wine tasting and light meal at the beautiful Arbor Crest winery.
